At Carolina Little Stitches, every stitch tells a story. And this week—Fashion Revolution Week—is all about those stories. We're joining the global movement to rethink fashion, celebrate handmade clothing, and embrace sewing as a powerful, personal, and sustainable art.
What Is Fashion Revolution Week?
Fashion Revolution Week marks the anniversary of the 2013 Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh. It’s a time to ask, “Who made my ...?” and to push for a fashion industry that values people, the planet, and creativity over fast profits.
Why Sewing Matters
Sewing your own items puts the power back in your hands. You get to choose what you wear, how it's made, and what materials go into it. It’s slow fashion at its finest—thoughtful, intentional, and full of love.
How We’re Celebrating
Here are a few ways we’re joining in this year:
- Mend What You Love: Don't toss it -- patch it! Share your favorite mends with us on social. PS check out Visible Mending! It is the coolest!
-
Use What You Have: Dig into your fabric stash or scrap bin for your next project.
- Thrift and Refashion: Don't have what your looking for? Thrift it! Refashioning sheets, linens and other garments is a great way to be sustainable.
- Sew Smart: Choose patterns you’ll use again and again (psst—we have some great ones in the shop!)
- Share the Story: Whether it’s a family heirloom quilt or your first handmade dress, your sewing has meaning. Let’s celebrate that.
We made a sweet little printable you can use to plan your next Refashioned Make! AND a cute little 4x6 printable to display in your space!
Let’s Make a Difference, One Stitch at a Time
This week, let’s slow down, sew mindfully, and celebrate every person who chooses handmade over fast fashion. Your sewing matters. And we’re so glad you’re here.
